About the Visa
The Active Investor Plus Visa is designed for wealthy individuals keen to invest actively in New Zealand’s economy. This visa focuses on investments that boost economic growth by creating jobs, supporting local industries, and bringing in new technologies and methods.
Also, starting July 2022, the New Zealand government has ended Residency-by-Investment Programs like the Investor 1 and Investor 2 visas
Applicants must possess a minimum of NZD 15 million or an equivalent amount in assets or funds ready for investment.
Eligibility Criteria
- Minimum Investment: A mandatory investment of at least $15 million or equivalent in acceptable investments within New Zealand.
- Source of Funds: Evidence of the legitimate source and ownership of the investment funds is required.
- Immigration New Zealand Cost: The application fee starts from NZD 7,900.
Conditions Post-Acceptance
- Investment Period: After preliminary approval, applicants have 6 months to transfer and allocate funds into qualifying New Zealand investments, with a compulsory investment period of 48 months in approved ventures.
- Minimum Initial Investment: Post-approval, a minimum initial investment is required, with subsequent investments leading to an aggregate value of at least NZD 15 million or its equivalent.

- Direct Investments: Minimum NZD 100,000.
- Managed Funds: At least NZD 500,000.
- Listed Equities/Philanthropy: Minimum NZD 1 million.
Residency Requirements
- Spend Time in New Zealand: A requirement to spend at least 117 days in New Zealand during the 4-year investment period as a resident visa holder.
- Health and Character: Compliance with health and character prerequisites is necessary.
Family Inclusion & Travel
- Bringing Your Family to New Zealand: Family members included in the resident visa must arrive in New Zealand within 12 months of visa issuance. If unable to arrive within this timeframe, they must reapply for residence.
- Travel as a Resident: The visa allows for travel in and out of New Zealand for 5 years from the first day of arrival in New Zealand.
