AEWV Key Terms Definitions
- Wage Threshold: The minimum wage that must be paid to an employee for the specific role under the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) program is determined by the AEWV sectoral agreement.
- Maximum Visa Length: The most extended period for which a visa can be granted under the AEWV program for a specific role. This period may vary depending on the role and other related conditions.
- Maximum Continuous Stay: The total duration in which an AEWV holder can remain in New Zealand on one or more Accredited Employer Work Visas. This limit varies based on your role, pay, and the date you applied for your first AEWV.
- Time Required Outside NZ: The mandatory period you must spend outside of New Zealand after reaching your maximum continuous stay before you can apply for another AEWV or re-enter the country under this visa category. It’s generally 12 months for most of the roles except for Meat process worker and Seafood process worker; it’s 4 months.
